Guild Wars 2 - Season 2

 GUILD 2 -SEASON 2 DETAILS

ArenaNet’s Associate Game Director Steven Waller and Studio Design Director Chris Whiteside walked us through a tiny bit of the new Season content, which builds and feeds back on Season 1’s story.  In the game, you’ll be alerted of some strangeness in the Brisban Wildlands, and will come across these weird vine things that have been encroaching upon the human territory.  You’ll meet up with a Seraph outpost that is guarding a portal to a new area, and learn that some new threat has taken out a Zephyr ship that was participating in the Festival of the Four Winds.

The new area beyond the portal is called Dry Top, a region referenced in the original Guild Wars.  It’s an open world area similar to the other locales in Guild Wars 2, with soloable story instances that scale with your party size.  There’s a sense of verticality in the way that Dry Top’s map has been designed, and a shifting sandstorm will affect your visibility and act as a type of event that determines different objectives and rewards.  As you progress through the story, you’ll find out that (spoilers) the Zephyr leader is on the run, a saboteur is chasing after him, and you’re the man/woman/asura/charr/sylvari/norn to figure out what’s going on.
Dry Top is comparable in size to Southsun and synergizes the open world with Guild Wars 2’s story, aiming to address some pacing concerns with the previous Season’s content.  Apparently, the ArenaNet team has been working with people in other media industries to understand how to better make superstory arcs, interrelated Seasons, appealing characters, and other features that are common to good storytelling in television, films, and other forms of entertainment.  Additionally, Seasonal achievements will now unlock when you complete an episode rather than being the driving force of how you go about completing Living Story content.  You’ll get rewards upon finishing the episode for the first time, and can then go about tackling the achievements and experiencing the content with a different focus.
I’m a big fan of Guild Wars 2 and the direction that ArenaNet has taken with its Living Story content.  I know there have been some gripes about the lack of replayability and overdependence on achievements in Season 1, and while neither of those things have bothered me a jot, it does seem like the developers are seeking to address them directly with Season 2.  Starting today, you can jump in and see for yourselves - be sure to let us know what you think!

Rob Pardo Leaves Blizzard After 17 Years!

Blizzard is down one Chief Creative Officer with the announcement that seventeen year veteran, Rob Pardo, is leaving the company. Pardo did not cite reasons for his departure, only that he will spend the summer enjoying time with his family.
"As to what I will be doing next, I don't have an answer for you yet... but I will 'when it's ready,'" Pardo said. "My priorities are to enjoy the summer with my family, play plenty of games, and think about what's next. The game industry is such an exciting place right now with PC gaming thriving, the new consoles, mobile games, and virtual reality becoming an actual reality. It's like having an empty quest log and going into a new zone for the first time."

Does Zelda Need More Than Just Single Player?

IGN.COM Wekkly PodCast Asks that very Question

I say NO. Zelda has always been a game of a very personal nature. You find yourself swept up into the world of Hyrule and the adventure that unfolds before you.

Hyrule Warriors will address the Dynasty Warriors-esque multiplayer that some people want but for me? Zelda is and should always be a Tale between the player of the game and the game itself.

FREE MMO Games You May Have Never Heard Of!

FREE MMO Games You May Have Never Heard Of!

Exactly what's worse it that a lot of the 'excellent' free to play games are commonly neglected due to either poor advertising on the game publisher's end or even absence of video game protection from video gaming websites. One method or another though these games are worthy of much even more attention than they have actually gotten, as all of the video games included in this list have an extremely little playerbase.

    Savage 2 - A Tortured Soul

The video game is published by the reasonably unidentified video game developer S2 Games-- the exact same folks behind the initial Savage game as well as Heroes of Newerth. Savage 2 is an unbelievably enjoyable game and it makes me feel a bit unfortunate inside every time I log on to play and see only a handful of servers with individuals in them. It's one of my personal preferred free to play MMO video games.

    FreeStyle Street Basketball

As the name suggests, FreeStyle: Street Basketball is a basketball themed MMO. Personally, I'm no fan of sports video games in general, for both Computers and consoles, however I had a great deal of fun playing FreeStyle online. Play 1v1, 2v2 or 3v3 online with some buddies or a pick up group. Each video game takes no more than 5 minutes making FreeStyle a casual game that can be enjoyed in little dosages. One reason why FreeStyle is so addictive is that the game is remarkably simple, as there are only a handful of buttons that can be pushed, yet the video game does take a large amount of ability. FreeStyle is another among my personal preferred MMOs, regrettably though the video game doesn't get almost as much attention as it should have.

    Project Powder

Project Powder is a fast paced snowboarding racing MMO by Outspark-- the folks behind Fiesta Online, Key of the Solstice and Dance Groove Online. Aside from the reality that Project Powder is currently the only snowboarding MMO out there, the game has some kickass fast paced addicting gameplay. The game's musical arrangement is also up there as the tunes fit the video game's theme quite well. I'm in fact quite stunned Job Powder never truly got too 'big' as it has everything from strong gameplay to great presentation. Definitely provide project powder a chance-- it's quite fun.

    Project Torque

Project Torque is currently one of the only racing MMOs out there created for those even more interested in racing than lobbing products. There are no absurd 'video game messing up' products here, indicating the only means to win is to in fact exercise and get excellent.

    Dungeon Party

Dungeon Celebration is an interested complimentary to play whacky 'record the flag' style MMO with a lighthearted comedic style. Unlike lots of MMOs, Dungeon Celebration doesn't have to be played continuously to be satisfying. The game is a few megabytes shy of a gigabyte, so it's not exactly a big video game. It's a fun time sink if you have actually got time to eliminate-- make sure to check Dungeon Celebration out.

    Monkey King Online

This impressive journey to the west has players living the legend of the Monkey King in a MMORPG world that is unlike any other. Discovering the keys of magic and mastering the arts of discipline and war, players will certainly march across new lands conjuring up the immortals and getting ready for the a future epic fight of cosmic proportions.

Gamers pick in between 4 various characters, including the Iron Fan Princess whom has actually tamed volcanic fires of the Flaming Mountains with a palm-leaf fan. Her partner the Ox Devil Lord, who has actually mastered the 72 Transformations technique. Beautiful Fox Demon whom has the job of bringing balance to the world, and of course the Monkey King, likewise called Sun Go Kong, and protector of the monk Tang Zeng.

Gameplay in MKO is click to move, putting all of the power of travel right at the players finger tips. A backpack full of helpful items is likewise in the player inventory also, providing a substantial list of equipment and remedies that are sure to bring aid. MKO uses a standard hot bar of skills and capabilities, offering players numerous alternatives of battle on their course to the west. This Game is Browser Based and runs on pretty much any hardware but do not let that fool you. There is skill and fun to be had in this game!

TERA- A FREE TO PLAY GEM

TERA- A FREE TO PLAY GEM
I was practically reluctant to lavish so much praise on TERA.  The bottom line is that TERA fixes the really worst aspect of WoW-- the lame combat-- while making some enhancements to other functions and doing a good job of emulating the essentials. TERA is an exceptional option if you're looking for a brand-new MMO. If you're looking for a new MMO, TERA is an excellent selection.

TERA isn't really a World of Warcraft killer, but it's not just another World of Warcraft ripoff, either. It's more like a World of Warcraft supplement, or a World of Warcraft successor: If you delight in WoW and are up for a change of pace, TERA will certainly be ideal for you. TERA also goes beyond World of Warcraft in terms of graphics and sound-- as it should, considering its greater system requirements. Some media websites have reported that it cost even more than World of Warcraft to establish, and all of the effort shows-- TERA is extremely, extremely polished. Offered how much it has swiped from World of Warcraft, TERA is standing on the shoulders of a very tall, really strong giant.

If there's an area where TERA falls short, it's that it can in some cases feel like even more of a grind than WoW. I can not rather put my finger on the reason, but I believe part of it is that TERA's quests are much heavier on standard errands-- eliminate quests are a bit more amusing than "run over there and speak to this other individual" missions, especially when the battle system is a big selling point.

Naturally, another part of it simply might be that the game will certainly feel familiar to any WoW player. Whatever the reason, I periodically got the sensation that I was just running back and forth between pens on the map, rather than engaging in an impressive quest with fascinating battle. These spells never ever lasted for too long, however they did detract from the experience.

However there are some real differences, too, and the very first and essential is the battle. All the clunkiness of combating in Wow-- and most other MMOs, for that matter-- is gone, changed by an action-based system that manages like an FPS. You can't just select a nearby enemy and inform your character to attack; rather, you have to place your crosshairs over your adversary and press an action button. In addition, each character has a simple protective maneuver you can utilize to stay clear of damage-- and, obviously, as you advance through the game you'll unlock a lot of additional spells and moves. TERA does not rather seem like an action game-- I discovered that my projectiles still in some cases curve to fulfill their target-- however it's a lot closer than WoW. At last, you seem like you're regulating your character, instead of simply giving him directions.

The precise systems of battle will certainly depend upon which class you select at the video game's beginning. I chose the archer, a user friendly damage dealer who concentrates on ranged combat. The other choices are berserkers (melee damage dealers), lancers (tanks), mystics (support healers), priests (primary therapists), slayers (melee damage dealerships), sorcerers (magicians who focus on varied damage dealing), and lastly warriors (tanks and/or melee damage dealerships).

Your race matters too. Different races have various bonus offers, various back tales, and different appearances. The Popori are a specifically striking lot; they're animals that have actually been made wonderful.

The underlying story right here is somewhat bizarre-- it starts with 2 gods dreaming up different races of creatures. The bottom line is that your world is emerging from a controversial past-- numerous of the races here faced major challenges, including slavery. Now, all 7 groups should work together to deal with a new opponent. The Argons have emerged from the underworld, and intend to take over TERA-- which represents The Banished Arena of Arborea.

Of course, TERA comes with a complete suite of multiplayer functions-- or at least it will, eventually. You can coordinate with other players through a matching system, or by signing up with guilds for arranged raids. Unfortunately, the special PvP battleground areas won't be contributed to the game for about another month, however there are still PvP worlds, deathmatches that occur right in the regular video game world, and battles.

In addition, each character comes with a basic defensive maneuver you can make use of to avoid damage-- and, of course, as you advance through the game you'll open plenty of additional spells and steps. The other choices are berserkers (melee damage dealers), lancers (tanks), mystics (support healers), priests (main healers), slayers (melee damage dealers), sorcerers (magicians who specialize in varied damage dealing), and lastly warriors (tanks and/or melee damage dealers).

The special PvP battleground locations will not be included to the game for about another month, but there are still PvP worlds, deathmatches that take place right in the regular video game world, and battles.

    5) Bless

We understand next to nothing about the video game at this point, as virtually all main trailers and materials have actually been in Oriental, but the footage truly speaks for itself. The video game has actually entered closed beta screening and is intending at a Q4 2014 global launch, so hopefully that takes place, however I have my doubts. The video game will have a dual-faction system and has been in development for coming up on 5 years, considering that 2009.

    4) Lord of the Rings Online

The Lord of the Rings Online is not only one of the earliest free-to-play MMOs on the marketplace right now, it's also one of the best. Based on the classic Tolkien lore from the books and films of the very same name, this is classic MMO done. You need to do yourself a favor and check out up on it over at their main website if you haven't heard of this video game yet.

    3) Neverwinter

Because its launch in mid-2013, the video game has actually already provided two fantastic free material expansions that have actually consisted of brand-new races, a brand-new course, new zones and just lots of additional material. Unlike other big relentless world video games, Neverwinter uses a hub-based system with lots of instanced content for small groups. The best feature of all is the Factory which enables players to make and upload their very own mission content - it genuinely makes this game never-ending.

    2) Rift

Rift, formerly called Break: Airplanes of Telara, is a fantasy-themed MMORPG that initially released back in 2011 as a pay-to-play subscription based video game, much like the past 2 choices. This game was viewed as the leading contender versus World of Warcraft for a short while and in fact caused a reasonably considerable deep in WoW's customer base. The video game showcases a faction based system, which plays directly into the tales and gameplay of any given character. Rift was also highly related to for its exceptionally unique class structure system which dealt with gearing up and personalizing different souls, which is a far cry from the linear development of the majority of MMORPGs. The video game also has a robust dynamic occasion system with rifts that open in the game world, leading to impromptu mini raids. This is certainly a top choice for currently available f2p MMOs and a game that continues to grow under its brand-new company design. 1) Tera: Rising

The Exiled Arena of Arborea, or TERA is another previously pay-to-play MMORPG. In February of 2013 in Europe and North America, the video game made its shift to free-to-play and hasn't looked back considering that. Unlike numerous other more standard MMOs, Tera, or Tera Rising as it is known now, features action-based battle and even functions sufficiently when using a gamepad or controller. It also sports some of the outright finest visuals that the category needs to offer. It would be higher on the list, but the missions are frankly just really dull across the board and lots of people struggle to keeping playing after the preliminary luster subsides. If you're after something fresh and various, this could be the video game for you. Check out the main site for even more details.
